Mahmoud Bambouyani Sensei,
Candidate for 38th Ward Alderman
“A Competitor and Champion for the 38th Ward and Chicago“
Mahmoud Bambouyani Sensei, owner of ITKA Shotokan Karate School in the heart of Portage Park, and a 38th Ward resident for more than thirty years, brings an impressive resume for his alderman candidacy. His unique set of skills and experience qualify him to represent both the residents and business owners of the 38th Ward, as well as interests of other stakeholders in our great city and ward.
In the area of business, Mahmoud possesses over thirty-five years of experience as a small business owner who has grown his martial arts school into an internationally recognized enterprise. He knows what is required to grow and maintain a business in our community.
In addition, Mahmoud is uniquely equipped to help the community and city succeed as we enter an era of global competition. The network of business and cultural contacts across the country and the world, he has developed through his business activities, is unparalleled amongst his competitors for the aldermanic seat.
As founder and chairman of the World Friendship Karate Tournament held annually at Wright College, Mahmoud has brought growth and international exposure to the community.

His experience as an immigrant makes him sensitive to the needs and challenges faced by our culturally diverse community. His story is one of inclusion and assimilation, a philosophy that he would bring to his position as the alderman of the 38th Ward. His commitment to creating opportunities for all members of the community is demonstrated through his presidency of the Northside Task Force for the Chicago Commission on Human Relations, a post he has held for the past six years.
As a single parent, Mahmoud brings an understanding and empathy to the challenges faced by so many of the members of our community, especially in the areas of education and safety. He is a ten year member of the Wright College Advisory Board, which serves our great community and offers a quality education at an affordable cost for so many of the young people in our city. As an educator himself, Mahmoud has touched the lives of several generations of students who have benefited from his teachings and skills, as a grandmaster and sensei, at his martial arts school.
In short, Mahmoud Bambouyani would bring his life experience as a competitor to work on behalf of the people of the 38th Ward. He would fight for the needs of our community and city in a way that none of his competitors could match. He seeks the aldermanic seat for all the right reasons - out of a sense of duty and commitment to making the 38th Ward the jewel of opportunity that it should be for its residents and stakeholders.
